We invite you to beautiful Iran

  Saturday 4 September 2010

Welcome

Following to the first Iran International Zeolite Conference (IIZC’08) that was successfully held at AmirKabir University (Tehran Poly-Technique), Iran, now , SPAG zeolite group on behalf of the Organizing Committee of  IIZC  cordially  invites  you to participate in the second  “  Iran International  Zeolite  Conference  ( IIZC’10 ).  It  will  be  held  as  a  two  days  conference  on  April 29-30, 2010 at Tehran University in Tehran, Iran. This conference brings together professionals from industry and academia who are actively interested to the science and technologies of zeolite and zeotype materials. It features; several plenary lectures featuring leading experts exploring zeolite science and technologies, technical sessions, poster sessions, exhibits and workshops.
The scientific program of the conference traditionally covers various fields of zeolites science and technology, with specific focus on the Nanotechnology area, detailed characterization and new areas of application.

IIZC’08 , The first  Iran International Zeolite Conference
The first Iran International Zeolite Conference (IIZC’08) has been held from April 29 to May 1, 2008 at the AmirKabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) in Tehran, Iran.  The Department of Chemical Engineering of AmirKabir University and Saman Pajouhan Aria Gostar; Zeolite Research and Development group (SPAG); on behalf of the Iran Zeolite Society (IZS) (under establishment) organized IIZC’08.

At first, the SPAG zeolite group had a plan to hold the First Iran National Zeolite Conference (INZC’08) on February 2008. However, the active involvement of zeolite researchers (by submitting more than 350 articles until Dec. 2007!), and encouraging supports of national and international organization (especially Tehran Polytechnic University , International Zeolite Association, IZA, & International Natural Zeolite Association, INZA) leads us to promote the conference to International.

The conference was along with several technical workshops in order to update participants on a series of topics about zeolites and related porous materials. A post-conference field trip was scheduled for those interested to visit Iran zeolite minerals resources. Additionally, there was an exhibition for the companies and institutions in order to present their capabilities and services as well as some round table discussions among the attendants during the period of the IIZC’08 Conference.

With the excellent involvement of colleagues working in areas of zeolite sciences and technologies, the IIZC’08 Organizing Committee has received about 500 abstracts from 10 countries, in which the scientific committee has accepted 452 papers for presentation in two main sections:

a- International Section contained 295 pure research papers in English language

b- Lateral Extension Section contained 157 gathering articles and/or in Farsi language papers, all for poster presentation,

The papers are subdivided into various thematic sessions going from the genesis and synthesize of materials to their properties and applications through their characterization.

The evaluation was possible through the timely and efficient refereeing by the members of the International Advisory Board as well as the National Scientific Refereeing Committee.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all those researchers who submitted papers for the IIZC’08 and all those in the international zeolite community, who spent their precious time reviewing the abstracts.

The Organizing Committee has arranged 4 plenary lectures, 3 keynote lectures, 40 oral presentations in several separate sessions on: synthesis, adsorption and separation, catalysis, industrial applications, theory and modeling, mesostructured materials, Membrane, composite, natural zeolites, agricultural applications, animal husbandry applications, and environmental applications.

The Book of Abstracts of the International Section of IIZC’08 entitled “Zeolites: The Magic Materials” contains the extended abstracts of all accepted contributions presented at the IIZC’08, is published in hard copy and soft copy in the form of CD, where as the received full texts were published in a CD. The scientific committee IIZC’08 dose not distinguishes between the oral and poster presentations in the International Section of IIZC’08. We are confident that because of tough and precise refereeing procedure, it has ensured that the quality of Oral and Poster papers accepted for presentation at the International Section of IIZC’08 Conference are equivalent.

The abstracts presented in the “Lateral Extension Section” of IIZC’08 (Farsi and gathering articles) entitled “Zeolites: The Valuable Materials” contains the extended abstracts of this specific poster section, which has been published in soft copy in the form of CD as a separate Book of Abstract. A list containing title and authors of these articles provided in the Book of Abstract of the International Section as well.

We wish to extend a warm welcome to our colleagues from all parts of the world – researchers, academics, practitioners, and others – who will be attending the IIZC’08 Conference. This was the first time that a Zeolite Conference was held in Iran andwe sincerely hope that delegates find the Conference to be technically excellent and that our foreign guests in particular enjoy an exciting Iranian experiences.

 IIZC 2008

The first Iran International Zeolite Conference will be held April 29 – May 1, 2008 at the Amirkabir University of Technology in Teheran.  It is organized by a group of very enthusiastic colleagues, representative of a community of over 500 scientists, active in some 50 academic and industrial research groups, who recently established themselves as a new regional zeolite association.

The response of the scientific community to the call for papers has been remarkable, with more than 450 abstracts submitted,  covering all aspects of the science and technology of porous materials. Besides the three-days session of oral and poster presentations, topical workshops on hot subjects and a post-conference field trip to discover Iranian natural zeolite sites are also included in a very exciting program.

I am delighted by such an initiative and I warmly thank the organizers for their efforts as well as the colleagues from the International Scientific Committee for their support. The Conference will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University. It will constitute undoubtedly a major founding event for the whole Middle East zeolite community and I do hope that many fruitful international collaborations will emerge in the close future.

To the Organizers and Participants of the

1ST  Iran International Zeolite Conference

Dear Colleagues,

The zeolites are an especially interesting class of natural and synthetic materials possessing technologically important physicochemical properties. Their range of the applications extends from the separation science, environmental protection and nuclear waste management to the catalysis, agriculture, veterinary science and medicine. The natural zeolites offer the advantages of low-cost and of the availability in big quantities in many parts of the world, whereas the synthetic ones the predefined structure and properties tailored for specific applications. The steadily increasing number of works on zeolitic materials published every year in scientific journals and presented in international conferences is an evidence of the theoretical and technical interest in the field.

The International Natural Zeolite Association (INZA) is a non-profit scientific organization encouraging the advancement of natural zeolite science and technology as well as promoting the research and the diffusion of knowledge on natural zeolites.

The diffusion of knowledge mainly takes place by the publication of research papers and reports and by providing organizational support to national and international natural zeolite conferences, meetings and training courses. Although the “International Conference on the Occurrence, Properties and Utilization of Natural Zeolites” (ZEOLITE Conference), organized under the auspices of INZA every four years, seems to be the main conference bringing together scientists from every part of the world working on natural zeolites, regional conferences, like IIZC’08, started to gain considerable importance. This can be proved by the big number of submitted contributions and by the interest shown by the scientific community in these meetings. The INZA encourages the organization of regional scientific conferences of this type because they promote the exchange of scientific information and give to young scientists, not always being able to attend the major zeolite conferences in other countries, the possibility to present their work and to contact other colleagues working in the same field. Young people with new ideas are always necessary for the advancement of science and technology.

For these reasons, I, personally and as President of the INZA, welcome with great pleasure the initiative of the Organizers and wish them a lot success with the 1st Iran International Zeolite Conference. I also wish all Participants to have a very interesting and successful scientific meeting full of fruitful discussions and new ideas for their future work.

Prof. Dr. Panagiotis Misaelides

The President of the INZA
